Questech Sandgate and Dorset Collection

Leading backsplash tile supplier My Tile Backsplash is pleased to announce the addition of both the Sandgate and Dorset Collection from Questech to there vast selection of backsplash material.

The Sandgate and Dorset Collection offers an array of decorative accents in both a natural stone and a metal look. Each Series has three different categories within each of the Sandgate and Dorset lines.

Questech Metals – Questech invented a breakthrough technology, a process for casting beautiful metal objects at a fraction of the weight and cost of solid metals. This discovery led to the launch of the industry’s first mass produced metal tiles, creating an important new category in the tile and home improvement markets. The difference between the two series of Sandgate and Dorset Collections is the style offerings between them. The colors that are offered are the same, just different designs between the two series.

Questech Cast Stone – Questech broke the mold again, with their revolutionary product of the cast stone series. These decorative pieces have a resemblance of natural stone with the look of travertine and marble. The product offering in this category is phenomenal. The selection includes everything from a 2″ x 2″ to a large 16″ x 24″ mural. Again, the color offering between the Sandgate and the Dorset collection are the same, just the different designs associated with each series.

Questech Natural Stone – This includes a factory-sealed tumbled marble collection offered in both Castle Wheat and Casa Emperador. Tumbled marble tiles have better wear properties, warmer feels, softer appearance and a matte finish. Tumbled Marble with Q-Seal provides a built-in anti-bacterial protection. Ultra-Fresh inhibits the growth of stain and odor causing mold and mildew. It is factory applied and will not lose its effectiveness over time. The added anti-bacterial protection makes the tiles ideal for showers, tub surrounds and kitchen backsplashes. They will never be the worry of having to reseal the tiles or worry about special stone cleaners.

As with all the products from Questech, each and every one of the products is sealed with their Q-Seal. The fear of sealing or water-damaged products does not exist with the Questech product line.

Making the Right Choices When It Comes to Custom Homes

Most often, people get a mind set of exactly what they want in a home and then when they start to look on the open market for what is available nothing seems to be quite what they are looking for. If this is the case then you really want to consider looking at some custom homes. This is where you’re going to get the opportunity to plan your dream home and find out what will work for you and what won’t.

This is a big step if you decide to go this route. To begin with, you are going to need to know if you have to buy the property or if you are buying into a development where you can pretty well customize the home that you want.

If you are buying the property then you are going to have to find the contractors and all the professional people that are required for home building. To begin with, you are going to have to find out what is allowed and not allowed according to the area that you are going to live in. This can be acquired from your planning department at your local building office.

Once you have an idea of what is allowed the next thing you will need is an architect to do your blueprint, which is going to have to be approved by the building and planning office.  As one can see, there is a tremendous amount of work when it comes to thinking about moving into custom homes.

It is not quite as easy as buying a home that is already constructed but it does have its advantages by letting you choose what you really want to have in a home. Once the plans have been approved, the next step will be finding the contractors to do the work. This is where you want to be very careful.  Shop around, try, and use someone that has been recommended to you.

There have been many horror stories when it comes to customized homes only getting half finished because either the contractor had done such a poor job or the budget was extended too far and not enough money was left to finish the work.

Be sure that when you pick your contractor that you monitor the work on an ongoing basis. One of the worst things you could do would be to leave your contractor in charge while you went away for six months thinking that when you came back you were going to have a beautifully new custom home to live in. Then only to return to find out that just the bare walls are all that exists of your new home so far.

FDCPA Keeps Bill Collectors Honest

Have you ever thought how nice it would be to get along without credit? No bank loans, no credit cards, no mortgages! It’s not likely to happen any time soon, but it is still a goal worth striving for. Especially in times like these when jobs are scarce and money is tight.

Even those of us who still have jobs feel the impact of the economic downturn. Many of our friends and family members are affected in a real way, and that hurts close to home.

In times like this we count ourselves lucky if we have been able to hold onto our jobs. But still it is inevitable that we will not very optimistic about the immediate future. There’s just no telling how long one’s own employer will be able to hold on before they start to make cuts. That certainly makes you wonder if it might not be better to get rid of those credit cards and live more realistically.

Using credit cards and lines of credit is very easy when times are good. With a steady job and source of good income keeping ahead of the payments is not a big deal for most of us. At least that’s what we tell ourselves. Meanwhile we get deeper and deeper in debt.

Maybe we rationalize that we need credit cards in case of an emergency. What exactly is an emergency? If we get sick, we have health care, if we lose our job, we have friends and family. If the roof leaks, that doesn’t mean that the whole thing needs replacing. Patch it up and wait until you have enough real money in the roofing fund.

Once you get on the easy credit roller coaster it is pretty difficult to get off. So when a real emergency comes along – like a business downturn or loss of employment – there is not much wiggle room left.

Of course cutting up all our cards isn’t going to happen in most cases. However, just think of the savings on interest and late payments that could be saved if we used fewer cards and were more prudent with our credit buying. At least then, if hard times come knocking, we’d be on a more level playing field, rather than standing in a huge hole of debt.

If you’ve fallen behind on a variety of debts, there is no doubt that bill collectors will come calling. If things get nasty with intimidation tactics and you don’t know where to turn, remember that you have rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

You can also pay a visit to a fair debt attorney who specializes in stopping debt collection harassment. They won’t be able to erase your debt, but they can make the harassment stop and can even get you compensation from the very agencies that are trying to collect from you.

Vintage Car Tips

Whether you are talking about a vintage car such as the 1955 Belair or a 427 Shelby Cobra, one thing is certain, the care these cars require is quite a bit more extensive than your everyday vehicle. Rust, pollen, bird droppings and accidental dings or scratches can be a nightmare for the vintage car owner. Below are a few tips for keeping your vintage car in mint condition.

1. Storage- Nothing is of more importance to a vintage car owner than where their baby will spend most of its time. This should if at all possible be a complete enclosure with solid floor, locking doors and temperature regulation. Nothing is more tempting to a car thief than an unattended vintage car.

2. Rust- For certain areas of the country rusting during damp months is a huge concern. This is one reason for the solid floor and temperature controls in your storage area. One other handy tip is to regularly have your car rust proofed by a reputable individual.

3. Bird Droppings- Vintage cars are worth so much more when they still sport the original factory paint. However after 30 plus years keeping this paint fresh looking and free from contaminants like bird droppings, bugs and tree sap can be a real challenge. The best thing you can do is to inspect your car for droppings immediately after driving or being on display. Bird droppings and bugs or sap can eat through and leave etchings in your paint that are hard to fix, especially on a vintage car.

4. Dints, dings and scratches- There is simply no possible way to protect your car 100% of the time from this kind of damage. However proper storage and car covers will help, and if you take the car to the corner store park well away from everyone!

Vintage cars are like a fine wine they get better and more desired with age. With these few tips, you can extend the life and beauty of your beauty without breaking the bank.
